In order to save emissions, the replacement of fossil energy chains is the topic of the future. MPreis Hydrogen from Austria shows how this can be done. The project includes the complete technical and organizational implementation of a hydrogen value chain and represents a practical implementation of the sector coupling electricity and mobility as well as electricity and process heat. An alkaline pressure electrolyzer with a power consumption of 3.2 MW produces around 1,300 kg of green hydrogen daily. It is used to generate CO2-free process heat for the oven operation of the Therese Moelk bakery and as a diesel replacement for the operation of the first three heavy fuel cell electric trucks in Austria. This alone can prevent CO2 emissions from around 1.5 million liters of diesel per year. By using the waste heat, the overall efficiency is over 90%.
