New prominence on ENERGY GLOBE Jury

The international ENERGY GLOBE Jury has gained a prominent new member: Peter Rae.

Rae, recently elected vice president of Renewable Energy Network for the 21st Century (REN 21), is the new jury member representing Australia.

The certified expert in business, finance and energy has also been active in numerous political functions: Since 2003 he has served as senior vice president of the World Wind Energy Association; he is also head of the International Renewable Energy Alliance, a Coalition of the International Geothermal Association, the International Water Power Association, the International Solar Energy Association and the World Wind Energy Association.

Until 1986 Rae was an Australian senator representing the Liberal Party of Tasmania. In 1986 he was elected to the Tasmanian lower house for the region Bass. As shadow minister, Rae handled tasks such as commerce, finance, education and science. His analysis of the Australian capital market earned him a name especially on the finance sector: The Rae Report led to the founding of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. Rae has also headed delegations to the European Parliament, the European Commission and NATO. In 1999 Rae was awarded the Order of Australia for his excellent business and commerce services to the Australian and Tasmanian parliaments and to the Aborigine community of Flinders Island.
