BeHydro hydrogen dual-fuel engine

Country:

Belgium

Emissions that arise when using fossil fuels are the order of the day. Emissions from ocean shipping should not be ignored. The goal of BeHydro is to develop low-emission hydrogen combustion engines for ships and trains in the power range from 1 to 2.6 megawatts. The first 1 megawatt dual fuel hydrogen engine has been in operation since 2020. This engine works with a mixture of 85% hydrogen and 15% diesel. That means a CO2 reduction of 85%. In 2021 BeHydro developed a spark-ignited version with 100% hydrogen. That means no more emissions in operation.
