Iran sets an important sign of sustainability

Sustainability is one of the most important future issues in Iran. For this reason, on invitation of Energy Globe, a high-ranking delegation traveled to Austria in October.

Under the chairmanship of Mr. Seyed Abolfazl Razavi, from the Iranian Presidency, they were informed about sustainable projects. The highlight of the 4-day visits was the Smart Village Conference in the premises of the Chamber of Commerce, where many representatives from Austrian companies participated, who presented further impressive examples of best practice. The nominees of the Iranian Energy Globe Award were presented and the winner was selected under the roaring applause of all guests. The winner was the „Shahriar Sewage Project” from West Towns and Townships of Tehran Province Water and Wastewater Co. Within this unique project, contaminated water for around 50,000 people is cleared up and drinking water is produced. The other nominees were the project „Remediation Of Underground Contamination By Means Of Green Biological Approaches” from Pars Petrochemical Co. and the project „North of Kish Wastewater Treatment Plant” from ZYANE Co.

Finally, it was announced that the next Energy Globe World Award will be awarded in the presidential palace in Tehran on 16 January 2018.

Iran expresses hereby an important global signal for the importance of environmental protection and the importance of sustainable action in a petroleum-producing country.
